Area Attractions
Midway: Located three miles west of Heber City, Midway hosts1he yearly cultural event known as Swiss Days. Many of the homes and city buildings reflect traditional Swiss architecture. Be sure to check out the old Town Hall in the city's center and Memorial Hill, offering spectacular views of the Heber Valley.
Bridal Vei1 Falls: This awe-inspiring double cataract can be viewed from the Provo Canyon floor. The falls once offered a 1700-foot aerial tram ride to the top, but the ride is currently not operating due to damage received from an avalanche. The falls are located off U.S. Highway 189 in Provo Canyon.
Fairgrounds: Hosts the Utah State High School Rodeo Finals, Wasatch County Fair and Rodeo, Heber Valley Pow Wow, horse shows, and many other activities. Facilities include a racetrack, rodeo grounds, 50 open horse stalls, 50 tie stalls, 16 enclosed stalls, three ball diamonds, and a 60 foot covered pavilion. Located between 300 West and 600 West in Heber City, from 300 South to 650 South.
Mt Timpanogos
Mt. Timpanoqos and Timpanoqos National Monument: Mt. Timpanogos rises 11,957 feet above sea level. The most popular trail to its summit leads from the Aspen Grove campground and takes miles past a series of watertfalls, lakes and the mile-long Timpanogos glacier Loop Road is the Timpanogos Cave National Monument, open from May to October. Timpanogos Cave is actually three separate caves connected by man-made tunnels: Inside, 1.200 feet above the canyon floor, are hundreds of delicately shaped and colored limestone formations. Alpine Loop Road: Perhaps the most spectacular scenic drive. The area is along Route.92. This unusual 19 mile drive runs between Provo Canyon and American Fork Canyon, With alpine vistas, lovely stands of aspen and spruce, hiking trails, Timpanogos Cave, and Sundance Resort along its path. The road is closed to vehicles in the winter, however cross-country skiers will find the road to be an enjoyable experience. The Sundance Resort is a popular starting place.
Airport: Sail plane lessons and scenic rides over local ski areas and mountain wilderness at the Heber City Municipal Airport. Located off Daniels Road near Highway 189.
City Parks: Located in the center of Heber City, Midway City, Charleston Town and Wallsburg Town. The parks feature playground facilities, covered pavilions, restrooms, a softball diamond and large, grassy areas for recreation. Popular spots for locals and visitors.
Dear Creek Island Resort and State Park: Deer Creek Reservoir has more than 12.5 miles of shore- line and is a popular spot for fishing, camping, boating, water skiing and windsurfing. Boat and water ski rentals are available. The Dock of the Bay Restaurant overlooks the reservoir at the north end. The park is a fee area at improved sites. Located along U.S. Highway 189.
Provo River: The river winds through the valley and down Provo Canyon, along U.S. Highway 189. The crystal clear river offers excellent brown trout and rainbow trout fishing and is a blue river haven forfly-fishing.
Ski Areas: Four of Utahs best ski resorts are within minutes of Wasatch County-Deer Valley Resort; Park City Mountain Resort, home of the U.S.. Ski Team; The Canyons; and Sundance Resort. The Jordanelle Lift at DeerCreek, off U.S. Highway 40's Mayflower Exit. The Homestead in Midway offers cross-country skiing, as does Wasatch Mountain State Park. These resorts also host a variety of summer time activities including theater, concerts, hiking and horseback riding.
Soldier Hollow: Site of the 2002 Winter Olympics' cross-country, biathlon, and Nordic combined events. Located in the southwest corner of the valley, the venue sits on state park land.
Uinta National Forest: Serving vacationers with 40 campgrounds designed for a variety of out- door experiences: miles of hiking trails, 12 maintained picnic areas, hunting, and fishing. Stop by the U.S. Forest Service Office, Heber Ranger District, on U.S. Highway 40, 2460 South.
