Don Kennington

Don was born in a two room log cabin on the Crow Creek in Idaho. He spent 20 years herding cattle with his family. He shod horses for 35 years putting shoes on over 30,000 horses and still continues to tack on a few. Many of his life experiences are the inspiration for his poetry:

Kennington came to this late in life. He was 50 when he started writing cowboy poetry. "I get up on the stage and everybody starts to laugh," he said. "I guess I do look funny but I do enjoy it."

Winner of Poetry Competitions in 1998 Cedar City and 2001 Kanab Idaho Silver Quill Award. Voted 2001 Western Music Association Utah Chapter Male Poet of Year.
